19,000 got vaccinated in Laugardalshöll
During a special effort to get the most vulnerable groups in Iceland to get vaccinated, both for covid and the annual flu was quite successful, but 19,002 people heeded the call. mbl.is/Eggert Jóhannesson
Just over 19 thousand people got vaccinated in two weeks in Laugardalshöll, in a special effort to get to people 60 years and older which ended last week. The effort was very successful and people were happy with the service according to The Health Care Centers of Reykjavík.
In an announcement from the Health Care Centers there were 19,002 people who used the opportunty to get vacchinated during this special effort.
Now vaccinations are back in the Health Centers
People could get vaccinated for Covid-19 and in total 13,125 shots were administered during these two weeks. At the same time people could get flu shots for influenza and people could choose to get both the covid shots and the influenza shot at the same time or either one if they preferred. In total 15,259 vaccinations shots for the influenza were administered.
That means that after this effort over 80% af Icelanders over 50 years of age have had at least three doses of vaccinations for Covid andwell over half of all Icelanders between 16-50 years old. Approximately 50% of Icelanders who are 70 years and over have had four vaccination shots for Covid-19 and third of all Icelanders between 60-69 years old.
Now that this effort has ended, vaccinations are now again available at the Health Centers in Reykjavík, both for Covid-19 and for the influenza.
