The Metropolitan police released two men from custody today who were apprehended this weekend on the suspicion of having killed a woman in Laugardalur in Reykjavík.

“The forensic evidence points out that marks on the deceased woman were not the cause of her death. Now The police don’t think there was any foul play involved and are now treating her death as death from natural causes,” as is reported in an announcement from the Metropolitan Police.

The men knew the woman

“This weekend when the police and the forensic pathologist were looking at the case there were a few issues that needed to be cleared. Because of that, two men were arrested that had been in contact with the deceased woman. They were remanded in custody until next Thursday, the 13th of October, but have now been released.”

The police are still investigating the case and will not give out more information at this point.

The deceased woman was in her 50s and she was found in her car in front of a house in Reykjavík in the postal area of 105. The police were alerted of a woman in a car on Saturday, but when they came to the scene the woman was already dead. The two men who were arrested and are now out of custody are also in their 50s and they were acquaintances of the woman.
