The consequences of the fire is not only devastating for the community of Seyðifjörður and everybody involved, it is also negatively impacting the hotel business in nearby areas.

The commercial laundry business, Vaskur, is the service party for Hotel 1001 Nott in Egilsstaðir, and they have been taking care of all the laundry for the hotel for a long time. Now, with the fire having devastated the company, Hotel 1001 Nott needs to send all its laundry to Höfn in Hornafjörður, which is a three hour drive from Egilsstaðir, in order to keep the hotel running.

Clean bed linen

"This situation is impacting us here, because we have a fully booked hotel all days and we needed to go to plan B and for the next days we are taking all our laundry to another company in Höfn in Hornafjörður. We have 35 beds that need changing daily so there is no way we can handle that with regular washing machines and dryers. This needs to be done in a professional facility with the appropriate machines," says Kristín the manager of Hotel 1001 Nott.

Need to fulfill our obligation to our guests

Kristín says that the whole community of Egilsstaðir is feeling for their neighbours in Seyðisfjörður, and the staff in the hotel is especially feeling for the owners of Vaskur Laundry.

"It is very important that we keep on going and we immediately started looking for a solution for now. It is extremely important for the tourist business that people can count on the hotel accommodation they have already booked."
