Impact on the Health Care Services
The malfunction had an unfortunate effect on the Health Care Services, and problems were with issuing prescription and references between Health Care Institutions.
According to Ragnheiður Ósk Erlendsdóttir, the Managing Director of The Health Care Services in Reykjavík, there have been quite a bit of problems with the program Hekla which is an online communicative program between different institutions.
As a result there have been a pile of issued presciptions piling up in the system and things have been moving slowly. However, it looks like the issue has been fixed and the prescriptions are available. "This is all getting better."
She says that the situation was, however, quite difficult today and at one point the whole operation was at a standstill.
Those, who did not get to get the prescriptions renewed because of the malfunction in the system today and are in dire need for their medicine can contact Læknavaktin, the Emergency Care.
Specialists are now monitoring the situation on their end and seeing to everything running smoothly.
