Discussion of a new women's party
Icelandic women are not happy to see that the country's last elections led to fewer women being in parliament. More than one hundred and twenty women met up last night to discuss the situation. They are considering to found a new women's party.
Sóley Tómasdóttir convened the meeting on facebook. She is a former city counsilor of the Left Green Movement. She encouraged women to show up and and said that depite the reason for the goverment's collapse, and a loud demand of women for a changed society, there had been a serious reverse on gender equality.
"A women's party that emphasizes the security, situation and opportunity of all kind of women is a possibility worth considering. Let's meet upp while we are still angry and let's try to channel that anger into a positive force for us all."
