New Iceland President visits Ecovillage

The first official visit by President Guðni Th. Jóhannesson was to the Sólheimar Ecovillage in South Iceland today. 

The President and First Lady, Eliza Reid, were received at Sólheimar in the early afternoon and were introduced to the activities and workshops that take place there. They also visited Sesseljuhús, the centre for environmental issues at Sólheimar. 

The Presidential couple will be planting a tree by the Sólheimar church later this afternoon followed by a concert at the church where the President will be making a speech. 

Solheimar is a world renowned sustainable community known for its artistic and ecological atmosphere where about 100 people live and work together.
