“More than two-thirds of Icelandic babies are born to parents who are not married,” is the statistic underpinning a one-hour-long tirade against the “feminist hell” that is Iceland by a US fundamentalist Baptist preacher.

Pastor Steven L. Anderson of the Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, Arizona, tears into Iceland as a nation with high numbers of single mothers and preaches a return to “biblical morality”.

Referring to quotes from various parts of the Bible, Anderson specifically tells listeners that Iceland should be ashamed of the number of Icelandic children not being born into a “normal family situation”.

Anderson’s remarks – including invectives against homosexuals, Jews and President Obama – have in the past attracted disgust and condemnation.

The “wickedness of Iceland” is the entire theme of Anderson’s sermon. “I know we don’t even know which bathroom to use any more in this country, but at least we’re not as bad as Iceland!” is his spirited conclusion.
