From Miss World to President of Iceland?

Former Icelandic Miss World Linda Pétursdóttir is reportedly “seriously considering” running for President of Iceland in the forthcoming presidential elections.

According to a recent Facebook post by the Icelandic beauty, “many people” have urged her to stand.

She told Icelandic news outlet Eyjan (link in Icelandic) that she is “convinced that [she] would discharge the office of President of Icelandic in full accordance with the Icelandic Constitution and take all decisions in the interests of the nation”.

Pétursdóttir took the Miss World title back in 1988 and is one of three Icelandic victors over the years.

"I need a few more weeks to make up my mind," says Linda.

Her Facebook post stresses her love of her dual role as “woman of the world” and “country girl” and her intention to remain such in “all tasks I take on in the future”.

Eyjan reports that Iceland’s beauty queen intends to take a few more weeks to make up her mind whether or not she will be putting herself forward for Iceland’s top job.
