France’s Royal on official visit to Iceland

French Minister for Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy Ségolène Royal has arrived in Iceland on an official visit to learn about the country’s energy industry.

Royal, former French MP and presidential candidate, is visiting Iceland upon the invitation of Icelandic Foreign Minister Gunnar Bragi Sveinsson and Minister for Industry and Trade Ragnheiður Elín Árnadóttir.

She will also be meeting Iceland’s President and Environment Minister during her stay.

France is the host country of the United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference to be held in December this year, the aim of which is to sign a new international UN framework agreement on climate issues.
