Healthcare resignations top 300
307 healthcare professionals at the National University Hospital of Iceland (‘Landspítali’) have now handed in their resignation.
The resignations can be attributed to recent pay and working condition disputes and the passing of legislation crushing ongoing strike action.
A week ago, the number of resignations stood at 299. Eight more since then have pushed the number of healthcare professionals intending to leave Landspítali over the 300 mark.
The hardest-hit department is Perioperative Services, with 86 resignations received, followed by 61 in Internal Medicine Services.
Other staff having stated their intention to leave include biomedical scientists, radiologists and midwives.
