Afternoon off on 19 June?
The Icelandic government has encouraged all employers to give their staff the afternoon of 19 June off to take part in the celebrations planned for the 100th anniversary of women getting the vote in Iceland.
A press release from the Prime Minister’s Office yesterday reads: “The Government of Iceland discussed the issue following a presentation for the executive committee for the 2015 celebrations of the 100th anniversary of women getting the vote in Iceland. The committee’s work is based on Parliamentary Resolution No 18/141 on how best to commemorate the 100th anniversary of women getting the vote in Iceland on 19 June 2015.”
