The glaciers of Iceland have inspired countless namesakes — and Icelandair’s winged Boeing 757-200 proudly carried the name of Europe’s largest glacier, Vatnajökull.
The aircraft first took to the skies on May 13, 2017, and completed its final passenger flight for the airline yesterday.
Its hand-painted exterior was created in celebration of Icelandair’s 80th anniversary in 2017, designed to capture the beauty, majesty, and icy allure of the great glacier it was named after.
