Google fixes the error that showed Reykjanesbraut as closed

Google Maps has now “reopened” Reykjanesbraut to traffic, after the road had been marked as closed on the app for the past 24 hours.

Google Maps error says Reykjanesbraut is closed

Drivers had been directed to take the Krýsuvík road instead, which, according to the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (Vegagerðin), likely increased traffic there.

“It looks to me like Google has fixed this now. We managed to get in touch with them, which isn’t always easy,” said G. Pétur Matthíasson, information officer at Vegagerðin, in an interview with mbl.is.
