The Icelandic Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings today for three regions: Breiðafjörður, the Westfjords, and Strandir and Northwestern Iceland.

The warnings take effect at 15:00 and will remain in force until Sunday morning. Wind gusts of up to 30–35 m/s are expected, which can be hazardous for vehicles sensitive to strong winds.

Today, southwest winds of 5–13 m/s are forecast, increasing to 13–18 m/s in wind corridors in the northwest late in the day. There will be drizzle in many areas but generally dry conditions in the east. Temperatures will range from 12–20°C, with the warmest weather in East Iceland.

Tomorrow, there will be true “bongóblíða” (glorious summer weather) in the northeast and east, where skies will be mostly clear and temperatures in East Iceland could reach up to 27°C. In the west, drizzle is expected early in the day, becoming mostly dry later, with temperatures ranging from 11 to 15°C.
