A major achievement for Laufey
Leifur Björnsson, head of exports at the Iceland Music Office, says the demand for tickets to Laufey Lín’s upcoming concert tour in the United States and Canada is almost without precedent in Icelandic music history.
“This concert tour by Laufey is, in many ways, a unique event in Icelandic music history. Laufey is now following in the footsteps of other Icelandic artists who have broken through in the U.S. One could say that the Sugarcubes and Björk, and later Sigur Rós, paved the way,” Björnsson said about the tour.
Eighty Laugardalshöll arenas
So far, 26 concerts by Laufey Lín in the U.S. and Canada this autumn have been announced. Fifteen of them are already sold out, and a rough estimate suggests that at least 400,000 tickets have been sold — the equivalent of eighty Laugardalshöll arenas.
