More than 40% of Icelanders believe the government should take a more active role regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip.

This is according to the latest Gallup National Pulse survey.

Just over 35% believe the government is doing enough, while just under 23% think it should do less. One in ten respondents did not take a position.

People under 50 are more likely than older respondents to believe that the government should be more active, while those over 50 are more likely to say it is doing enough.

University-educated respondents more likely to want stronger action

Residents of the capital area are more inclined than those in rural areas to say the government should do more.

Similarly, people with a university degree are more likely than those with less education to think the government should increase its efforts.

A majority of government supporters — 52% — say the authorities should do more, compared to only 9% who think they should do less.

The pattern is reversed among government opponents: 47% say the government should do less, compared to 22% who think it should do more.
