The foreign ministers of Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, and Spain condemn the decision by the Israeli government to expand its military operations and occupation of Gaza City.

This was announced on the website of the Icelandic Government Offices.

The ministers reject any demographic changes or alterations to the borders of Palestine.

They state that any such steps constitute violations of international law and international humanitarian law, and that the two-state solution is the only viable path to lasting peace in the Middle East.

They reiterate the call for an immediate ceasefire and for the release of all hostages.

The ministers also stress the need to ensure greater access for humanitarian aid in Gaza and that Hamas must have no role in governing Gaza in the future.
