“This means a lot for the town”

Lína Birgitta Sigurðardóttir, owner of Define the Line and a proud Hafnarfjörður native, was recently spotted at the Í hjarta Hafnarfjarðar (“In the Heart of Hafnarfjörður”) festival. Now in its ninth year, the festival is held with great fanfare and celebration — and Lína says it has a significant positive impact on the town.
What are you doing here at the Heart of Hafnarfjörður?
“I’m a Hafnarfjörður girl. I lived here from the age of three until I was 22. My childhood friends are all here, and I’m at the festival now with four of them. So this really means a lot to us — and to the heart of Hafnarfjörður,” Lína says with a smile.
She feels the festival lifts the spirit of the community and notes that it grows bigger every year.
“Absolutely. Every year it gets larger, and I think more and more artists are seeking to perform here. I believe this does a lot for Hafnarfjörður and life in the town, because a lot of people come here who aren’t even from Hafnarfjörður,” she adds.
What are you up to right now?
“We’re playing a drinking game — something we used to do when we were eighteen. It’s always fun to go back in time like that. It feels a bit like being on a camping trip, being here in the heart of Hafnarfjörður. We’re sitting at a table on benches, and it just gives that cozy, outdoorsy vibe. You run into lots of people, you’re with your crew — it’s just incredibly fun here,” says Lína.
Would you call this a unique experience?
“Absolutely, a truly unique experience. There are so many strangers connecting here. The vibe is so good, everyone’s happy and so friendly,” she says cheerfully.
Asked what her perfect evening at the festival looks like, the Hafnarfjörður native doesn’t hesitate:
“You show up, head to the bar, grab a nice drink, squeeze in at a table with some friendly people. Then you go to the other tent and dance, come back here and chill with another drink. Then you're headed home by eleven when it all wraps up. What I love about this is that the festival starts early, ends early, and you wake up feeling fresh the next day,” she explains.
Asked if she has any final thoughts, Lína responds without hesitation:
“Everyone should check out
