Photographer for mbl.is attacked at protest
A protester affiliated with the organization Iceland-Palestine splashed red paint on a photographer for Morgunblaðið and mbl.is at the scene.
The protest was held outside the Ministry for Foreign Affairs on Reykjavíkurstræti today.
"I was taking pictures there because red paint was being thrown at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. A man comes up to me and asks which media outlet I'm working for. I tell him I'm from Morgunblaðið. He walks away for a short while," says photographer Eyþór Árnarson.
"Suddenly, I feel paint splashed on me. I turn around, and there he is, throwing paint on me and yelling something about Morgunblaðið. I didn’t quite catch what he said."
A cameraman from RÚV (The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service) was also present and was similarly asked by the man which media outlet he worked for. No paint was thrown at the RÚV cameraman.
Following the incident, several protesters apologized for the man’s behavior.
