Temperature reaches 26.5°C in South Iceland
The temperature has just reached 26.5°C according to measurements from the Icelandic Meteorological Office's weather station at Árnes. Later today, temperatures could climb as high as 29°C, according to a meteorologist’s forecast.
There seems to be no end in sight to the pleasant weather currently enjoyed across much of the country, with the highest temperatures expected in the northeast and east of Iceland.
Some patches of fog are forecast along coastal areas in the north and east, but the northwest and the Westfjords will draw the short straw today, as temperatures there are expected to stay below 15°C in most places.
