Icelander graduates top of class at Columbia
Guðrún Gígja Sigurðardóttir had every reason to smile at her graduation in the U.S., as her academic performance was outstanding.
Lawyer Guðrún Gígja Sigurðardóttir recently graduated with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from Columbia Law School in New York. Morgunblaðið received a tip that Guðrún had not only completed the program but had graduated at the top of her class. Columbia Law School is one of the most prestigious law schools in the United States.
“Yes, it was a fun experience,” says Guðrún Gígja Sigurðardóttir. The program included over 300 students from more than 70 countries. The LL.M. program is available to international lawyers—provided they are admitted, which is far from guaranteed. The master’s degree is an advanced qualification on top of prior legal education, and Guðrún spent nearly a year in New York. She previously earned a master’s degree in law from the University of Iceland.
