The French woman currently in custody, suspected of killing her husband and daughter at the Reykjavík Edition hotel last weekend, has reportedly lived in Ireland with the deceased for the past ten years.

Her custody has been extended by two weeks, until July 4, on the grounds of investigative interests.

The woman, who is in her sixties, was originally remanded into custody on June 14, until Friday, June 20, at the request of the Capital Area Police due to the ongoing investigation.

The case concerns the deaths of two French tourists at the Reykjavík Edition hotel in downtown Reykjavík. The woman in custody was traveling with the two deceased individuals — her husband and daughter — at the time of the incident.

Assistant Chief of Police Ævar Pálmi Pálmason gave an interview to the Irish Times, which published a report on its website today.

According to the Irish Times journalist, police are examining whether the victims may have been killed in their sleep. A knife believed to have been used in the attack was seized at the scene.

The woman has been interviewed twice by police, but her position regarding the charges has not yet been made clear. Her husband, who died, was 58 years old, and their daughter was in her thirties.
