Men arrested after threatening police officer at his home

Four men were arrested in the early hours of Monday morning by Capital Area Police and members of the National Police Commissioner’s special forces, after allegedly showing up at a police officer’s private residence in Reykjavík over the weekend and issuing threats against him.
According to RÚV, the men were reportedly armed with knives and are said to have been harassing or threatening the officer for some time.
Helena Rós Sturludóttir, communications director for the National Commissioner of Police, confirmed to mbl.is that the special forces unit was involved in the operation, but declined to comment further on the case.
Ólafur Þór Hauksson, District Prosecutor, who is responsible for investigating cases involving violence against police officers, also confirmed to mbl.is that his office is currently investigating a case from the weekend involving threats directed at a police officer.
