Plane makes emergency landing east of Hólmsheiði
A small single-engine plane was forced to make an emergency landing just east of Hólmsheiði shortly before midnight, resulting in the partial closure of Suðurlandsvegur.
According to a firefighter on duty in the capital area, both a fire engine and an ambulance were dispatched to the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and only one person was on board at the time of the incident. Authorities are currently awaiting the arrival of the Traffic Accident Investigation Board.
By 1:30 a.m., two police vehicles remained at the site, with officers directing traffic around the aircraft, which was partially blocking one lane of the road.
