Director Hlynur Pálmason premiered his latest film Ástin sem eftir er ( The Love That Remains ) at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival on Sunday, May 18.
Joining Pálmason on the red carpet were the film’s lead actors, Saga Garðarsdóttir and Sverrir Guðnason, along with his children Grímur, Þorgils, and Ída Mekkín, who all appear in the film. The ensemble was accompanied by producers Anton Máni Svansson and Katrin Pors, as well as Danish actor Anders Mossling.

The film’s synopsis reads: " The Love That Remains captures a year in the life of a family as the parents take the first steps toward divorce. Over four seasons, we follow the everyday lives of family members through unexpected, funny, and heartbreaking moments that reflect their changing relationships."
This is not Pálmason’s first appearance at Cannes. Three years ago, he premiered Godland in the festival’s Un Certain Regard section, and in 2019, his critically acclaimed A White, White Day was featured in the Semaine de la Critique.
