According to meteorologist Teitur Arason from the Icelandic Meteorological Office, this week’s weather outlook is excellent. Warmer air will reach the country tomorrow, and temperatures could rise above 20°C in northeastern and eastern Iceland at their peak.

“All areas will see some good weather, though some regions will fare better than others,” Arason says. While there may be occasional clouds and light rain in the south and west, those areas will also enjoy some pleasant days.

Tuesday looks especially warm

Tuesday is expected to be particularly nice in South and West Iceland, including the Reykjavík area, with sunshine and temperatures possibly reaching up to 18°C.

A high-pressure system near the Faroe Islands is expected to remain stationary, directing warm air toward Iceland and likely maintaining similar weather throughout the week.

Arason notes that a brief cold spell affected the south and west last Friday, then moved northeast overnight, bringing some mountain snow. However, the sun quickly melted it, and that chilly episode is now over — good days are ahead.
