Icelandair expands its U.S. network with four weekly flights to Nashville and a stronger partnership with Southwest Airlines.

Icelandair officially launched its newest U.S. route yesterday, connecting Reykjavík with Nashville, Tennessee. The vibrant southern city becomes the airline’s 18th destination in the United States, with four weekly flights scheduled through the end of October.

According to an announcement from Icelandair, the new route has already received a warm welcome from travelers on both sides of the Atlantic.

“It’s very gratifying to add Nashville to our robust route network,” said Tómas Ingason, Chief Revenue, Service, and Marketing Officer at Icelandair. “We’re particularly pleased with the enthusiastic response from customers in Iceland and the U.S. The reception was so positive that we launched the route five weeks earlier than originally planned.”

Expanded connectivity with Southwest Airlines

Coinciding with the new route, Icelandair has expanded its partnership with Southwest Airlines, the largest carrier operating out of Nashville. Passengers can now book seamless connecting flights via Nashville, Denver, and Baltimore, offering convenient onward travel to approximately 90 destinations across North America.

This partnership significantly enhances Icelandair’s North American network and opens up more travel options for both leisure and business travelers.

Music city adds cultural flair to Icelandair’s offerings

Nashville is a fitting addition to Icelandair’s destination list, celebrated globally for its music, culture, and cuisine. Known as “Music City,” Nashville is the heart of country music, but also boasts a rich heritage in pop, rock, gospel, and jazz.

Visitors can explore iconic sites such as RCA Studio B, where legends like Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, Roy Orbison, and the Everly Brothers recorded some of their greatest hits.

With its mix of musical history, southern charm, and culinary appeal, Nashville offers a unique cultural experience — now more accessible than ever for Icelandic and European travelers.
