Inflation and seismic activity continues on the Reykjanes Peninsula. In the last 24 hours, about 550 earthquakes have been recorded on the peninsula and out to the Reykjanes Ridge.
The Icelandic Meteorological Office's nature watchdog report states that the four largest earthquakes were about magnitude 3, located NW of Kleifarvatn and on the Reykjanestá.
GPS measurements show fairly clear signs that inflation has begun under Svartsengi.
"At present, it is difficult to assess the speed of magma accumulation and it may be necessary to wait a few days to assess further development of magma accumulation under Svartsengi."
