Breaking news: Eruption has started on the Reykjanes peninsula
An eruption has begun on the Reykjanes Peninsula, the eleventh in just over four years and the eighth since December 2023.
The eruption appears to have erupted southeast of Mt Þorbjörn.
A Coast Guard helicopter will take off shortly with scientists and a public broadcaster.
