Alexander Valur Wium Brynjólfsson and his girlfriend, Kita, who is French, found love two years ago. This morning, they got married on a Play airline plane. However, the couple couldn't decide whether to get married in Iceland or France, so they went somewhere in between.

"Kita and I met two years ago when I was working in Raufarhólshellir as a tour guide. Kita had come to Iceland to work here, but she was head over heels in love with Iceland. One day she was in Raufarhólshellir at the same time as me, which ended with me asking her out and we've been together ever since. We hit it off right away and connected," Brynjólfsson says, a 26-year-old tour guide.

He says they've traveled a lot since they met.

"In these two years, we've both traveled a lot together, both to France and to other countries, but also in Iceland. We love to travel. When I heard about the idea of getting married on board this flight, we thought, why not? It just fit with all our adventures, getting married in the air between Iceland and France. It's just a pretty crazy idea and unconventional, which suits us well," he says, but the couple are now planning to stay in Paris for a few days and enjoy being in love and newlyweds.

"The ceremony was incredibly beautiful and fun and it was just brilliant. Now we're going to enjoy life in Paris," he says with a smile.

After the ceremony, a party was thrown on the plane, as the wedding caused a lot of excitement among the guests.

"They couldn't decide whether to get married in Iceland or in France because she's from there and he's Icelandic, so it was the perfect solution to do it somewhere in between. It was a very beautiful moment and it's safe to say that love was in the air. People on the plane were so surprised when the priest, who was in full regalia, walked down the “church floor” or the aisle of the plane. The groom waited at the end of the aisle and the bride walked behind the priest. The ceremony was very beautiful. The bride and groom exchanged vows and songs chosen by the bride and groom were played. After the ceremony, guests toasted the newlyweds who were overjoyed with their day. It was just great in every way,” says Elma Dís Árnadóttir, an employee in the marketing department of Play who was a passenger on the flight.
