Did not give up this morning

Many places in the capital area can make life difficult for drivers in traffic this morning.

Long queues can form if one or more cars get stuck in snow and then there is little else to do but show patience and help your neighbor if necessary.

As can be seen in the photo above that our photographer took on Breiðholtsbraut this morning, this driver did not give up in traffic this morning and used a snowscraper to get rid of snow from under the car. We don’t know how everything went, but hopefully, everyone made it safely to their destination in the end.

Uncertainty level warning on several routes

The Icelandic Meteorological Office has issued yellow weather warnings for the west of the country today and according to the Icelandic Road Administration, there is a so-called uncertainty warning on several routes until the evening, such as in Hellisheiði, in Þrengsli, Mosfellsheiði and elsewhere.

It is noted that roads may close at short notice and motorists are asked to familiarize themselves with the conditions before setting off.

The Icelandic Meteorological Office website states that strong southeasterly winds with heavy rain are forecast across much of the country today, but sleet or rain in lowlands to the southwest.

A southeasterly storm or even gale force winds are expected again late tomorrow and gales are expected throughout the country.

Unsettled weather is also expected over the weekend, with strong winds and considerable precipitation.
