Says she did not mention the police
Inga Sæland, Minister of Social Affairs and Housing, says in an interview with mbl.is after a government meeting yesterday that she did not mention the police or her position in society in a phone call with Ársæll Guðmundsson, headmaster of Borgarholt School.
Sæland called the headmaster because of a pair of shoes that belonged to her grandson were lost at school.
Impulsive grandmother
Sæland said she would try to be herself as much as possible even though she is a minister today.
"I was an impulsive grandmother there. I did pick up the phone and call, no threats or anything like that. It was a two-person conversation."
Then she said she would do her best and said she would be more aware of her position today.
"It was a mistake, I was supposed to count to 86 before my grandmother in me picked up the phone."
Apologizes for any inconvenience caused
She would like to sincerely apologize to Guðmundsson if he felt uncomfortable with her calling.
"I called as Inga Sæland and never pretended to be anything else."
You didn't mention anything about the police or your position in society?
"No, I didn't mention anything like that."
