Seven taken to hospital and operations completed

Seven were taken to the hospital in Selfoss with minor injuries after two buses collided on Suðurlandsvegur near Hella this morning.

This is what Sveinn Kristján Rúnarsson, a senior police officer with the South Iceland police, told mbl.is.

He says that foreign tourists were on both buses, about 50. Other than those who were taken to hospital with minor injuries, those who were taken to Hotel Stracta , but the bus companies have already picked them up.

Rúnarsson says that police operations at the scene have been completed and Suðurlandsvegur, which was closed following the accident, has been reopened. He says the circumstances of the accident are under investigation by the South Iceland police.
