Fourteen bonfires in the capital area
There will be fourteen New Year's Eve bonfires in the capital area today and tonight. The weather forecast is good for the evening and people are encouraged to wear protective glasses.
This is stated in a post by the police in the capital area.
The police point out that at the bonfires and in the immediate vicinity, all handling of fireworks that pose a danger due to their trajectory after ignition is prohibited. Only starlight and flares are permitted there.
Most bonfires in Reykjavík
Ten New Year's Eve bonfires in Reykjavík:
- At Ægisíða, small fireworks, at 8:30 pm.
- In Skerjafjörður opposite Skildinganes 48-52, small bonfire, at 9:00 pm.
- At Suðurhlíðar, below Fossvogskirkjugarður Cemetary, small bonfire, at 8:30 pm.
- Laugardalur, below Laugarásvegur 18, small bonfire, at 8:30 pm.
- Geirsnef, on the north side of Geirsnef, large bonfire, at 8:30 pm.
- At Stekkjarbakki, small bonfire, at 8:30 pm.
- At Rauðavatn Lake on the north side, small bonfire, at 8:30 pm.
- Gufunes near Gufunesbær, large bonfire, at 8:30 pm.
- At Kléberg in Kjalarnes, small bonfire, at 8:30 pm.
- Mt Úlfarsfell at the Fiskfélagið activity area above Lambhagavegur, small bonfire at 8:30 pm.
New Year’s bonfire at Álftanes:
- On the banks by Gesthús, small bonfire, at 8:30 pm.

- Sjávargrund, small bonfire, at 9:00 pm.
New Year's Eve bonfire in Mosfellsbær:
- Below Holtahverfi area near Leirvogur, small bonfire, at 4:30 pm.
