No information on talks today
The chairwomen of the Social Democratic Alliance, the Liberal Reform Party, and the People's Party have met with their people today. They will not give interviews or information about the progress of the government formation talks until tomorrow at the earliest.
This was confirmed by an assistant to Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir, the chairwoman of the Liberal Reform Party, to mbl.is.
It was reported in Morgunblaðið today that the chairwomen had not met over the weekend as planned. Instead, they reviewed the work that the working groups of the parties had delivered, each separately.
Still aiming to write a coalition agreement this week
It was reported before the weekend that the chairwomen of the three parties planned to meet to discuss issues of disagreement over the weekend, but Gunnarsdóttir said at a press conference on Friday that the working groups' proposals indicated that there was not yet harmony between them on everything.
There are not many issues of disagreement left to discuss and she said she is hopeful that they will be resolved, as has been done so far.
She did not want to say anything about what issues the parties were still divided on, but said the aim was to begin writing a new coalition agreement this week.
