The mayor gives Christmas decorating awards
Mayor Einar Þorsteinsson, a Christmas child whose birthday is on Christmas Eve, recently awarded the Kokka store and Fálkahúsið with awards for the best Christmas decorations in the city. Kokka received an award for the most beautiful Christmas window and Fálkahúsið for the most beautiful Christmas decoration.
This was stated in a statement from the City of Reykjavík. It says that with the award, the city hopes to encourage operators to decorate their premises since Reykjavík is the city of Christmas.

Shines brightly over the Christmas season
Fálkahúsið is located at Hafnarstræti 1-3, where the restaurants Sæta svínið, Fjallkonan and Tipsy are located. The justification for the choice states that "the stately Fálkahúsið in Kvosin in downtown Reykjavík shines brightly over the Christmas season and creates a good harmony with the ice skating rink at Austurvöllur.
The Christmas lighting highlights all the main features of this beautiful house, which will, among other things, draw passers-by's attention to the history and architecture of Kvosin, as well as bring Christmas to their hearts."
The Kokka store is located at Laugavegur 47. The justification for the choice of the city's most beautiful Christmas window states: "A delicate and picturesque fir tree ring, a giant gingerbread house and a gingerbread man peeking out of the window give a uniquely festive look to Laugavegur by the pedestrian street and should delight passers-by, young and old, during the Advent".
