Charged with killing his daughter
The District Attorney's Office has issued a charge of murder against the man suspected of killing his daughter, ten-year-old Kolfinna Eldeyja Sigurðardóttir, on Krýsuvíkurvegur Road in September.
"He is charged with killing his daughter," says Karl Ingi Vilbergsson, a prosecutor at the District Attorney's Office, when asked.
Remand extended
The man's remand has also been extended.
Today marks 12 weeks since he was remanded in custody. According to the Criminal Procedure Act, suspects can only be held in custody for 12 weeks without being charged.
Readers are probably familiar with the case, but the nation was shocked when the police were notified of the body of a 10-year-old girl not far from Krýsuvíkurvegur Road.
Police later reported that the girl's father was suspected of killing her, as he had contacted the police and pointed them to the body.
