Rescue team members from Landsbjörg went up to Kerlingarfjöll, where people got into trouble with several cars, and the Lífsbjörg rescue team on Snæfellsnes was on standby last night.

Jón Þór Víglundsson, Landsbjörg's information officer, says that assistance was requested just before 7 am this morning due to people who had gotten into trouble and had their SUVs stuck. Fuel and supplies are also in short supply, as the group had been on site for about 24 hours.

"Since there is uncertainty about the road conditions, we sent a lot of equipment, including snowmobiles," Víglundsson says.

First call at 1:30 am

Last night, the Lífsbjörg rescue team went to help drivers who had gotten into trouble at Fróðá, Búlandshöfði, and Fróðárheiði, but the first request was received at 1:30 am. This is reported on the rescue team's Facebook page.

"A few cars were freed and some were turned around after a short conversation or helped to get to accommodation. The night's tasks ended just before 4 when the last rescuers arrived at the house. A total of 6 members in 2 cars participated in this operation," the post says.
