The employees of Árekstur.is (Collision) have been very busy this week, but since Monday, well over 100 accidents have been registered with the company.
Kristján Kristjánsson, managing director of Árekstur.is, says that the last few days have been busy and additional staff and cars have had to be added to carry out tasks.
Many parking lots are covered in ice
Yesterday, for example, there was a three-car collision in a parking lot near Borholt, where the cars slid into each other and could not get out of the parking lot due to the ice.
"We have been called out to the main roads and no less to parking lots all over the city, but many of them are covered in ice causing many collisions. People are entering them at low speeds but there is nothing they can‘t control their cars that are skating in this very icy weather," Kristjánsson tells mbl.is.
He says far too many cars are unprepared for this weather.
