The proposed bathing lagoon in Laugarás has been named Laugarás Lagoon and is scheduled to open next summer, according to Hjalti Gylfason, manager of Laugarás Lagoon.
“Construction is progressing well and is on schedule. A select team of craftsmen is joining us on the project and the plan is to complete the practical construction this spring. The bathing area and the shape of the building are characterized by circular shapes, which is challenging to implement, but with good cooperation from the main partners, that part has come a long way,” Gylfason says.
“The plot was originally purchased in 2016 to build a hotel with a large bathing area. Since then, the idea has evolved and changed with the goal of first building the destination, a bathing lagoon, and a restaurant, and then a hotel afterward.”
