25000 have voted early
Early voting has been increasing day by day and already over 25 thousand Icelanders have voted in the governmental election that will be held next Saturday.
This is what Einar Jónsson, deputy commissioner in the capital area, says in an interview with mbl.is.
On Monday, 17 thousand people had voted early, but now 25,290 have voted. Most of them have voted in the capital area, or 14,830 people.
Many still have to vote
In South Iceland, 1,369 votes have been cast, in Suðurnes, 993 votes have been cast and in the Westman Islands, 273 votes have been cast.
In West Iceland, 827 have voted and in the Westfjords, 439. In North Iceland, 450 have voted.
In the Northeastern part of Iceland, 2,020 people have voted and in the East, 554 have voted.
Jónsson says that in the presidential election, around 42,000 people voted early, and it can therefore be expected that around 15,000 additional votes will still be cast before the actual voting day next Saturday.
