Last night, volcanic pollution (SO2) was measured in Grindavík and on air quality monitors south of the eruption sites at an unhealthy concentration for sensitive people.

This is stated in a statement from the Icelandic Meteorological Office's natural disaster watch, which states that due to the prevailing northeasterly wind today and likely in the next days, volcanic pollution can be expected to continue to be measured in the area.

"Avoid outdoor exertion and children should not be outside. Turn off the air conditioning and close the windows."

Otherwise, there have been no visible changes in the lava flow or the power of the eruption last night.

You can monitor air quality on the Environment Agency's website, loftgaedi.is.
