Part of the parking lot covered by lava: Impossible to assess damage
Part of the parking lot at the Blue Lagoon is already under lava. Helga Árnadóttir, manager of sales, operations, and services at the Blue Lagoon, says she has been in contact with emergency responders.
"We just watch like everyone else and hope for the best," she says.
Impossible to tell the damage
This is the main parking lot of the Blue Lagoon and there are parking spaces for around 350 cars as well as bus parking. According to Árnadóttir, access to the Blue Lagoon must be evaluated when it is possible to do so and whether there are possibilities to use other access for vehicles.
"It is impossible to tell the damage at this point, but we will see this better as time goes on and how we can respond." There are some parking options at the reservoir, but we need to take a closer look at it in the future," Árnadóttir says.

Guests show consideration and get refunded
According to Árnadóttir, the tourists took it well when they were asked to leave the Blue Lagoon Hotel.
"Guests understood this and the employees showed great professionalism and consideration, just like they have before."
Hotel guests were transferred to other hotels. Until now, guests have either been taken to a hotel in Reykjavík or Reykjanesbær.
"We try to accommodate everyone's needs," Árnadóttir says.
According to her, no guests from previous eruptions have sought compensation, but everyone will receive a refund for their stay at the hotel when such situations arise.
