Evacuation has been completed in the Blue Lagoon.

Helga Árnadóttir, manager of sales, operations, and services, says in an interview with mbl.is that the evacuation went well and that the guests showed good understanding.

Around 200 people were on the premises when the evacuation began, and most of them were guests at the hotel. All guests have arrived or are on their way to other hotels and employees have gone to their homes.

The Blue Lagoon will be closed tomorrow

Evacuation began in the Blue Lagoon and Grindavík just before eleven o'clock this evening after it became clear that an eruption was starting on the Reykjanes Peninsula.

The eruption began shortly after, at 11:14 pm.

The Blue Lagoon will be closed tomorrow and the situation will be assessed afterwards.
