Support for the Independence Party and the Liberal Reform Party increases by more than 3 percentage points. The Social Democratic Alliance is still the largest party in the country according to Gallup's new national pulse survey.

Support for the Social Democratic Alliance, the Center Party, and the Pirate Party decreases by just over 2 percentage points, but the survey was conducted 14-31 October.

Almost 24% of those who take a stand would vote for the Social Democratic Alliance if elections were held today, more than 17% for the Independence Party, roughly 16% for the Center Party, almost 14% for the Liberal Reform Party, almost 8% for the People's Party, just over 6% the Progressive Party, 5% for the Pirate Party, roughly 4% for Iceland's Socialist Party, 4% for the Left-Green Movement and 0.6% for the Democratic Party.

About 6% would return a blank or not vote, and over 13% take a position but do not want to reveal it.

There were little changes in the support of parties after Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson announced the dissolution of the government last month. The main changes between the first and second half of the month were that The Liberal Reform Party’s support increased from over 11% to almost 15%, while the support of the Left-Green Movement decreased from almost 5% to close to 4%.

Prósent’s Survey

In a new survey by Prósent for Morgunblaðið and mbl.is, which was published yesterday, it was also stated that the Liberal Reform Party is gaining ground. The Social Democratic Alliance continues to decline and the support of the Left-Green Movement hasn’t moved.

The Social Democratic Alliance got the most support, more than 22%. The Liberal Reform Party is over the 18% barrier and there is no significant difference between the two categories. The Center Party and the Independence Party are on similar paths and are fighting for third and fourth place.
