The investigation into the death of the ten-year-old Kolfinna Eldey Sigurðardóttir, who was found dead at Krýsuvíkurvegur Road on September 15, is going well.

This is what Elín Agnes Kristínardóttir, from the central investigation department of the police, tells mbl.is. The custody of the man, who is suspected of killing his daughter and is the only one who has the status of a defendant, was supposed to expire today, but it has been extended until November 14.

He was arrested on the Krýsuvíkurvegur Road the day his daughter's body was found and has now been in custody for five weeks.

"The research is going well, but these kinds of cases are always extensive," Kristínardóttir says.

The police requested footage from passers-by who drove along Krýsuvíkurvegur Road on the day in question, and Kristínardóttir says that the footage has been examined to see if it can be used in the investigation of the case or not.

The man has undergone a mental evaluation and Kristínardóttir says that is one of the standard practices that are done in such cases.
