Halla Tómasdóttir, the President of Iceland, and Björn Skúlason, her husband, began their official visit to Denmark this morning. Traditionally, the first state visit of a new president is to Denmark.

Foreign Minister Þórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörð Gylfadóttir is also accompanied by an official delegation.

When Tómasdóttir stepped onto Danish soil at the old toll booth at Kastellet, she and Skúlason were greeted by King Friðrik X of Denmark and Queen Maria.

Behind the royal couple stood a row of horses and on them sat men from the king's court. Tómasdóttir started by greeting King Friðrik X and then shook Maria's hand, who apologized for the gloomy weather in Copenhagen. They all did well.

Next, they shook the hands of people who were waiting at the pier in two rows, and almost all of them had phones or cameras in the air.

After that, they got into a horse-drawn carriage that drove them away.
