The driver in the accident has died

The driver of the car that crashed on the side of the road in Skagi earlier today has died. A passenger in the car was taken by ambulance to the Akureyri Hospital for further treatment.

This is stated in an announcement from the police in the North West on Facebook.

Serious traffic accident in the North

There was a serious traffic accident on Skagavegur Road, north of Skagaströnd by Fossá River at three o'clock today. The vehicle landed off the road and into the Fossá River.

Passers-by provided assistance

The traffic accident investigation committee came to the scene and the investigation of the accident is on the table of the police chief's investigation department in the North West.
