A driver of a truck was arrested today on Villingaholtsvegur Road after dumping gravel from the platform of the truck onto the road and then running over a police car.
In an interview with mbl.is, Þorsteinn Kristinsson, head of the police in the south, says that the police have been on the road inspecting commercial equipment where, among other things, they check the load of the equipment and its weight.

The driver was stopped there and seems to have reacted badly.
"The reaction was like this. He dumped gravel off the platform and hit the police car," Kristinsson says.
So they stop the driver there because they are doing patrols and he just took it so badly?
"What exactly has it been - at least that was the reaction."

No one was injured
Kristinsson says that fortunately no one was injured in the incident and that the man was arrested.
"When policemen are threatened in this way and some violent incidents are shown to them, one thing happens and that is that people are deprived of their freedom for some time."
Regarding the continuation of the case, it is said that there will now be an investigation and hearing and that a decision will be made.
