On Culture Night is one of the last live music performances before Kex Hostels closes the venue for live music. Ólafur Halldór Ólafsson, better known as DJ Óli Dóri, is the event manager at Kex Hostels and a host of Straumur radio show at X97.

Tell me about the lineup at Kex tomorrow on Culture Night ?

There will be live concerts from 2 p.m. until 9:30 pm, with a band playing every hour. KUSK will start at 2 pm, and BSÍ will be the last band, playing at 9 p.m. There will be DJs playing between sets, and I will take the final DJ set after that.

Now that KEX is closing as a concert venue, how do you think that will affect the music scene in Reykjavík?

I think this will have a bad effect on the scene. Venues for bands to perform, such as KEX, are becoming fewer, which is not good, and something needs to be done about that.

Can you think of other venues like KEX for bands to play at now that it is closing?

No, not right now. Some places are doing great things, but there is definitely a need for more mid-sized venues.

Have you been DJing for a long time?

I have been a DJ in Reykjavík for 20 years, and after finishing my set at KEX on Culture Night, I will play at Kaffibarinn back-to-back with Simon (fknhndsm). So, I urge everyone to show up there after KEX.
